This first ever event will happen this weekend on December 17, 2011 at the Holiday Inn on 2 Montgomery Avenue in Gaithersburg Maryland 20879 and would start from 10am in the morning and run through 2pm in the noon. Being the premier event, the organizers decided to adopt an open door invite by granting free admission to every one who is interested in attending.

Patrick Sarfo Adu, one of the coordinators of the event who is highly excited about it says the occasion will provide an opportunity for businesses and individuals in the world of business to meet and share ideas as well as network among themselves and share their expertise and experiences with their colleagues both in and out of the business world. The objective will be to empower all who attend to strive to live debt free in 2012 and onwards.

The event will be a nursery grounds for professionals and non professionals alike to learn how to build true wealth from top successful Ghanaian business owners in the USA. Participants and attendants will have the benefit of learning how to be their own bosses, earning extraordinary incomes, starting their own businesses and gearing towards making multiple streams of income!

Among those expected to present and share at this first ever AGWSS will be accomplished and established entrepreneurs and business men and women of Ghanaian origin in the USA like, Desmond Boateng, Bernard Akowuah, Pascal Asiedu, and Doris Annokye among a whole host of others.

A one time real estate agent who has been assisting people to acquire houses in the American mortgage industry, Patrick Sarfo Adu; also a presenter and coordinator of the AGWSS believes this event will be a success. Patrick expects a very decent attendance owing to the benefits the seminar seeks to offer participants, some of which will be providing the knowledge and power to allow people decide where they want to work and when they desire to work.

The entire Ghanaian community in the USA’s Maryland, District of Columbia and Maryland is urged to participate in this seminar as well as other members of the African community and business world. We will bring you more information on how this occasion went and the rate of success it achieves.

SASSi Ladies stands for Strong African Sophisticated Sisters Inc.   The group was established in October 2009 with a handful of young women who wanted a support system to encourage sisterhood and friendship.

SASSi Ladies is a private social club for African (African descendent) women. The primary mission of SASSi Ladies Inc. is to provide a support system for its members and encourage members in their personal and career goals. We also seek to empower our communities including supporting children and women initiatives. SASSi Ladies, Inc. welcomes women of all religions, races, educational backgrounds, and income levels that support its mission and ideals.

Today, there are 25 active, strong, and beautiful women that support one another in many facets of our lives.  In the brief time that we have come together, we have gain a positive following, especially in the case of facebook and have appeared on TOLIMASHI FM a, UK based online radio program and Volta Power FM, a US based online radio program.

In addition, we are frequently invited as special guests to several functions within the Ghanaian community. We wanted to set a positive presence in the community so we created a logo and slogan, “Seeing Is Believing”. In addition, in keeping in line with many social organizations, we selected a color scheme, hot pink, lavender and white to distinguish us from other social groups.

Though our primary goal is to establish a support system for our members we care deeply about supporting women and children initiatives.  SASSi Ladies has partnered with not for profit organizations such as Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Walk in October 2010, where we raised several hundred dollars.   In December 2010, we participated in Toys for Tots and donated over 50 brand new toys to the Children’s Aid Society, a child orphanage in the Bronx. In March 2011, each of our members donated at least one used prom and wedding dress for Prom Rescue 2011. This organization acquires gently used dresses from the general public to donate to teenagers who can not afford to buy their own prom dresses.

Our legacy is just beginning and we hope to be a role model for younger generations who seek to have a support system in place for each other. Additionally, we will continue to provide support for organizations that cater to women and children enterprises.

So to sum up what a SASSi Lady is, this poem says it all:

She is a friend, wife, mother and daughter.

She is confident. She is spiritual. She is caring. She is supportive.

She is beautiful. She is loving. And most of all She is a SISTER.

Whether she is joyfully dancing at your outdooring or grieving with you at a funeral, she is there to support you.

You will know who she is not only because of the SASSi colors she wears but because of her lovely presence.

She knows who she is and knows where she is going.

One thing is for sure; you will have to “See to Believe”.

She cares about women and children and if you ever need an extra voice to shoot or a shoulder to cry, you better believe she is your friend indeed.

She is not intimidated by others or shy to speak her mind.

This is what makes her SASSi can’t you see!

Ghana Youth United Inc. and Nkuranshe help to rebuild, restore, and replace the underrepresented YoungAfricans making a difference.

Atlanta, GA- February 2011 – The non-profit founders of Ghana Youth United Inc. and thefounders of Nkuranshe have spearheaded an initiative to exemplify and honor the works ofyoung African leaders by executing the first annual Young African Leaders Conference.

The two-day conference weekend will kick off with a networking party to be held on February25th, 2011 with musical performances, art displays, and more. The conference will be heldon February 26, 2011 at the Atlanta Fulton County Public Library Auditorium from 10:00amto 2pm. This event will include African ancestral inspired performances, documentaries, aleadership building workshop and two panel discussions focused on Identity and Business/Non-profit enterprise. During this discussion, panelists will be asked questions that will focuson a young leader’s battle with solidifying their identity, building and maintaining successfulrelationships, and contributing to the economic transition of their countries. The questions willfurther address whether there has been progressive change, stagnation, or diminutive change inthe community.

The panelists include: Veronica Oladeija- founder and editor of the Africanmagazine Apinke, Mirabel Toh- Miss Cameroon International, Irene Mbari-Kirika – founderof the non-profit assisting the blind youth of Kenya, INable, Joseph Abdallah- Center forDisesease Control(CDC) Research Analyst, Bessie Winn-Afeku- former Miss Black Georgiaand founder of the She is Me Program, Angela Wamburi- Miss Kenya USA and founder of MyAfrica is Beautiful, Tiwa Agaga-Williams- Special Events Developer, Crystal Azu- NationalAfrican Student Association President and Aaron Nanor- former Atlanta Mayoral candidate.The opening address will be given by Atlanta City Councilman Kwanza Hall.
This first event is set to be one that will not only inspire the youth to act on their passion, but alsoenable them to bridge the disconnected gap of various generations of African youth. It sheds apositive light to the growing diverse community of Young Africans in America.
